Monroe VC

Make the most of your visit to Monroe by starting at the Monroe Welcome Center! Here, you’ll find brochures, maps, and expert local recommendations. Plus, don’t miss the 1821 Shoppe, offering a unique selection of Monroe-themed gifts. We’re located at 227 S. Broad Street.

The Monroe Museum exists to preserve and share the history and culture of Monroe, Georgia. The museum was created by a volunteer committee of Monroe residents and generous support from the community. The display is framed as a timeline starting with the Native Americans who inhabited our area long before Monroe was chartered in 1821. The exhibit then moves through the decades that follow highlighting people and events that were a major part of our history. There is no end to our timeline, it continues today and is reflected in the events that take place in Monroe, Georgia daily.
