About Downtown Monroe, Georgia

We hope you enjoy our southern hospitality, strolling the tree-lined streets, chatting with business owners and residents, and discovering all that downtown has to offer - historic sites, antiques, restaurants, and specialty shops. Walk through the downtown area and you'll find friendly business owners, that "small town feel," and a variety of stores and dining options in the historic district. Monroe is a part of the Georgia Main Street Program and in 2021 was named a Georgia Exceptional Main Street (GEMS) for going above and beyond expectations by making a strong impact on our community.

Monroe is a Main Street City with organized programs focusing on historic preservation, economic development, and events that create a vibrant downtown community.  We always need volunteers to help us accomplish our revitalization goals. Here are the various committees for volunteers.  We would love to have your input and feedback!

Additionally, Downtown Monroe is home to over 100 businesses and organizations.  Not to mention, a destination for multiple historic attractions! We are also the AntiquesCapitalofGeorgia.com.
